02.1- Thermal Receipt Printer Setup Guide #
High-speed thermal receipt printing is essential for fast customer checkout. TRAX POS supports industry-standard ESC/POS receipt printers connected via Network (Ethernet/LAN), USB, or Bluetooth.
1. Hardware Requirements #
- Printer Type: Standard 80mm or 58mm ESC/POS compatible thermal receipt printer (e.g., Epson TM-T88, Bixolon, Star Micronics, Rongta, Xprinter).
- Connection Interface: USB cable or an RJ45 Ethernet network cable connected to your local router/switch.
- Thermal Paper Roll: 80mm (standard) or 58mm (compact).
2. Step-by-Step Configuration in TRAX POS #
- From the main sidebar menu, navigate to Settings ➔ Store Settings (or POS Hardware tab).
- Locate the Receipt Printer Configuration card:
- Connection Type: Choose between
Network Ethernet (LAN)orUSB / Local Driver. - IP Address (For Network Printers): Enter the static IP address assigned to the printer on your local network (e.g.,
192.168.1.150). - Port: Default is
9100(standard raw print port for thermal network printers). - Paper Width: Select
80mm(default wide receipt) or58mm(narrow receipt). - Auto-cut Paper: Toggle
ONto trigger the guillotine paper cutter automatically after each bill.

3. Printing a Test Receipt #
- Ensure the printer has paper loaded and the power indicator shows steady green.
- Click the green Print Test Receipt button in the settings panel.
- The printer should immediately feed a test receipt reading:
TRAX POS - Connection Test: OK- Date, time, IP address, and sample barcode.
- Click Apply Changes to make this printer the default checkout printer.
4. Troubleshooting & Tips #
- Printer does not respond: Ensure the terminal and the network printer are on the exact same subnet (e.g., both starting with
192.168.1.xxx). - Garbled or strange characters: Verify your printer code page settings. TRAX POS automatically transmits standard UTF-8 and PC437/CP864 character sets.
- Paper cut not working: Verify that your printer model is equipped with an internal auto-cutter mechanism and the toggle is enabled in settings.
